About Oradea, say the same things. Affordable fees. WHO listed. English medium. Then they stop. But none of them tells you what actually makes this city and this faculty different. So let me do that here.

First, the city. Oradea is not just another Romanian city. It is 10 km from the Hungarian border. Because of that, it sits right at the edge of Central Europe. Budapest is just 2.5 hours away by train. Also, the city itself is known as the Art Nouveau capital of Romania. It has over 70 km of dedicated bike lanes. In addition, Oradea was recently voted one of the most livable cities in Romania. So, life here is genuinely good for a student.

Now, the university. Higher education in Oradea started in 1780. That is over 240 years of academic tradition in this city. However, the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy was established in 1991. What most blogs miss is this. The 6-year medicine curriculum here was built in collaboration with Harvard University and several other US universities. That is a fact on the university's official Wikipedia page. But not one competitor blog has written about it. Not one.

The Faculty has two sections. One for Romanian students. One for international students. The international section has over 500 students from all over the world. Also, the teaching in this section is 100% in English. So, language is never a barrier here.

Today, six university hospitals are linked to the faculty. Together, they have 2,987 beds. That is one of the highest bed counts among all English-medium medical faculties in Romania. As a result, students gain greater patient variety and clinical depth. Rotations take place at the County Emergency Clinical Hospital, the Gavril Curteanu Clinical Hospital, the Obstetrics-Gynaecology Hospital, and others. So, no two clinical days feel the same.

Also, since 2010, the faculty has run the Emergency Medicine Club and Trauma Suturing Skills training. These are hands-on workshops. Most Romanian medical schools do not offer this at the undergraduate level. As a result, Oradea graduates enter internships more prepared than most of their peers.

The faculty also runs the Search and Rescue annual conference. It is organised with SMURD, the Romanian Red Cross, and Salvamont Rescue Team. Also, the Oradea Medical Journal is published by this faculty. It is an interdisciplinary journal focused on primary healthcare providers worldwide. So, research culture here is real and active.

However, what about fees? Tuition is EUR 5,500 to 6,500 per year. That is lower than most English-medium medical schools in Romania and Europe. Add living costs, and the total is EUR 400-500 per month. So, over 6 years, the total comes to roughly INR 42-52 lakhs, all-inclusive. That is the cheapest full EU medical degree available to Indian students today.

Now, NEET is needed for the Indian licence after graduation. But it is not needed for admission here. Also, no entrance exam is held at the faculty level for international students. Admission is merit-based. Your Class 12 grades and English proficiency decide your seat. That is it.

Finally, the degree is valid for FMGE and NExT in India. It is also valid across all 27 EU countries. PLAB, USMLE, and AMC pathways are all open. So, after 6 years in Oradea, your options as a doctor are genuinely global. That is what this page is really about.

Second, the hospital network. Six university hospitals are linked to this faculty. Together, they have 2,987 beds. That is one of the largest clinical networks among all English-medium medical faculties in Romania. So, students rotate through trauma, ICU, cardiology, OBG, paediatrics, and more. As a result, clinical training here is wide and deep.

Third, the Emergency Medicine Club. Since 2010, this faculty has run hands-on workshops on emergency medicine and trauma suturing for students. Also, it hosts the Search and Rescue annual conference with SMURD and the Romanian Red Cross. These are real clinical skill events. However, no competitor blog has covered this. Most say “clinical training included” and move on.

Now, the city. Oradea is 10 km from Hungary. Budapest is 2.5 hours by train. Also, Oradea is the Art Nouveau capital of Romania. It is on the Réseau Art Nouveau Network and the European Route of Art Nouveau. So, you are studying medicine in one of Romania’s most beautiful and historically rich cities. That is not a small thing for daily quality of life.

However, the biggest point is cost. The total cost in Oradea over 6 years is INR 40-50 lakhs, all-inclusive. That is lower than every other English-medium EU medical school. It is also lower than most Nepalese private colleges. But Romania gives you a degree valid in 27 EU countries. So, the value here is simply unmatched.

Finally, the Oradea Medical Journal. This faculty publishes its own peer-reviewed journal. It focuses on primary healthcare worldwide. Students can contribute. That kind of research culture at the undergraduate level is rare. As a result, students here leave with more than just a degree.
