The college is attached to a network of hospitals that serves as its primary teaching facility.

• Flagship Hospital: The GMC Hospital (Associated Hospital), along with its specialized units (Superspeciality Hospital, Psychiatric Diseases Hospital, CD Hospital), forms the main constituent teaching facility for GMC Jammu.

• Scale & Services: This is the largest tertiary and super-specialty care referral hospital complex in the Jammu division.

• Capacity: A massive hospital complex with 1700+ beds (including beds across associated specialty hospitals).

• Services: Provides comprehensive healthcare services across all clinical specialties and numerous super-specialties (Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Urology, Nephrology, Oncology, etc.). It features 24x7 Emergency, Trauma, advanced Critical Care (ICUs), and modern Operation Theatres.

• Educational Engine: The GMC Hospital complex is the core clinical training ground for all GMC Jammu students.

Fee Structure: Government Subsidized

As a state government medical college, the fees are extremely low and set by the Government of J&K.

Campus Living: Hostel Facilities

• Mess Charges (Monthly): Paid monthly based on actual expenses, typically ranging from ~₹3,500 to ₹4,500 per month.

Admissions Process: NEET & State Counselling (J&K)

• Getting Admitted (MBBS/MD/MS): Admission is strictly and exclusively based on qualifying ranks in NEET-UG (for MBBS) or NEET-PG/SS (for MD/MS/DM/M.Ch).

• State Counselling is Key (J&K): Seat allotment for all categories (Open Merit, Reserved Categories, and All India Quota) is handled entirely through the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (J&K BOPEE) centralized counselling process.

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ): Seats are filled through the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling, open to students from all over India.

• 85% State Quota: Seats are reserved for students with J&K domicile and are filled through the J&K BOPEE state counselling.

Career Pathways & Placements

• Career Path: As a government medical college, the career path for graduates is excellent.

• Internship: MBBS graduates complete a mandatory 1-year rotatory internship at the GMC Hospital, Jammu, for which they receive a competitive stipend as per UT Administration norms.

• Bond: A service bond may be required for PG graduates.

• Post-Graduation: The extensive clinical exposure at GMC Jammu makes graduates highly competitive for PG seats (via NEET-PG/SS) or immediately employable as Medical Officers in the state health service.
