Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (IKBFU) carries a history that goes back to 1947, when the State Pedagogical Institute was first set up in Kaliningrad. Over the decades, it grew into Kaliningrad State University and later became a federal university in 2010, taking the name of the great philosopher Immanuel Kant, who lived and taught in the very same city.
