👉 “MBBS abroad ke liye main eligible hoon ya nahi?”
Unfortunately, many students skip eligibility checking and later face serious problems like:
Admission rejection
Visa issues
Degree not valid in India
FMGE / NEXT ineligibility
In this blog, we explain MBBS abroad eligibility criteria for Indian students in simple, clear, and updated language, so you can check your eligibility before taking any step.
MBBS is not a short course. It takes:
5.5 to 6 years of study
Huge financial investment
Strong family support
If eligibility rules are not followed properly:

Let’s break it down stepbystep.
To study MBBS abroad, you must have:
✔ Passed Class 12 (10+2)
✔ From a recognized board (CBSE / ISC / State Board)
Physics
Chemistry
Biology
PCB is compulsory.
If Biology was not studied in Class 12 → Not eligible.
Minimum percentage depends on category.
✔ 50% aggregate in PCB
✔ 40% aggregate in PCB
Marks are calculated based on:
👉 Physics + Chemistry + Biology (not overall percentage)
This is the most critical eligibility rule.
👉 NEET qualification is mandatory for Indian students who want to study MBBS abroad and practice in India later
Important points:
✔ NEET must be qualified, not just appeared
✔ Rank does not matter for abroad
✔ Minimum qualifying marks are enough
✔ NEET must be cleared before admission
❌ NEET after admission does NOT count
❌ Without NEET, degree is not valid for Indian practice
✔ 17 years completed by 31st December of the admission year
Generally no upper age limit for MBBS abroad
Some universities may have their own preference
If you are 17+ years, age is usually not a problem.
Eligibility is based on citizenship, not place of study.
✔ Indian citizens must follow Indian (NMC) rules
✔ OCI / NRI students have slightly different rules
✔ Indian passport holders must follow NEET eligibility
Always confirm nationalitybased rules before admission.
Before admission and visa, students must:
✔ Undergo basic medical checkup
✔ Be physically & mentally fit for MBBS
✔ Submit medical fitness certificate
Some countries may require:
HIV test
General blood tests
This is a standard requirement, nothing to worry about.
Good news 👍
Most MBBS universities abroad:
✔ Do NOT require IELTS / TOEFL
✔ Teach MBBS in English medium
However:
Basic English understanding is necessary
Communication improves gradually during studies
Many students worry:
👉 “Drop year ke baad MBBS abroad possible hai?”
Answer: YES
✔ One or multiple gap years are allowed
✔ No penalty for drop year
✔ NEET qualification still mandatory
Just ensure:
Gap years are justified
Documents are clear
While core eligibility remains the same, some countries may have small additional requirements like:
University entrance test (rare)
Online interview
Language orientation classes
But NEET + PCB + age are common across all popular MBBS destinations.

If all answers are YES, you are eligible for MBBS abroad.
👉 Reappear for NEET next year (recommended)
👉 Consider PCB through open schooling (after proper guidance)
👉 Some universities consider borderline cases (casetocase)
Never take illegal shortcuts they destroy careers.
Parents often ask:
👉 “Agent bol raha hai ho jaayega, sach hai?”
