MBBS in Amur State Medical Academy

Amur State Medical Academy is a public medical school located in Blagoveshchensk, Russia. This university was established in 1952 with the name of Blagoveshchensk State Medical Institute. Later on, this medical institute adopted the name Amur State Medical Academy in 1996.

The Academy started with medical training for the students from the Amur Region. Medical classes of the Academy started functioning in October 1952. The first batch of doctors graduated from the Academy in 1958. From there on, the Academy extended its scope of work.

Today, Amur State Medical Academy operates under the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. It provides specialist medical education, residency programmes, and postgraduate education. Its main specialist programmes include General Medicine and Pediatrics.

The General Medicine programme is offered under code 31.05.01. It is a six-year full-time specialist programme. Students who complete the programme receive a medical qualification under the Russian higher education system.

The Academy has two main undergraduate medical faculties. These are the Faculty of General Medicine and the Faculty of Pediatrics. It also provides education through postgraduate departments and professional development programmes.

For international students, the General Medicine programme is available in English. The Academy introduced English-language specialist education for foreign students. By November 2025, 49 international students had enrolled in the English-language General Medicine programme.

The 2026-27 admission rules also provide a separate admission process for foreign students applying to English-language programmes. Entrance examinations for General Medicine include Chemistry and Biology. The minimum listed score for each examination is 36.

The Academy follows a six-year structure for its General Medicine programme. This allows students to progress from theoretical foundations to practical medical skills. Clinical training becomes increasingly important during the later years.

Practical education is supported by the Academy's clinical facilities. These include the Scientific and Practical Medical Center "Family Doctor" and the Cardiac Surgery Clinic. Students also receive clinical education at affiliated healthcare institutions in the Amur region.

The Cardiac Surgery Clinic is a notable part of the Academy's medical structure. It provides specialized cardiac surgery services for adults and children. The clinic also provides high-technology medical care.

The Academy has a Central Scientific Research Laboratory. The laboratory supports scientific and medical research. Its work includes preclinical and clinical research related to medicines and healthcare.

Research has been part of the Academy for several decades. The Central Scientific Research Laboratory was established in 1974. The Academy also has postgraduate programmes in fundamental medicine, clinical medicine, and preventive medicine.

Students have opportunities to take part in scientific activities. The Academy has a student scientific society and conducts academic conferences. Students can also participate in research and professional competitions.

The Academy has an Accreditation and Simulation Center. It was established as a simulation centre in 2014 and later developed into an accreditation and simulation centre. It supports practical skills training and assessment.

Simulation-based education can help students practise medical procedures before performing them in clinical settings. It provides a controlled environment for developing professional skills.

The Academy's educational facilities include lecture rooms, practical classrooms, laboratories, computer rooms, and a library. It also has sports facilities and student recreation areas.

Clinical education is spread across several facilities. This gives students exposure to different medical specialties and healthcare environments. It also connects academic learning with practical patient care.

International education has become an important part of the Academy. Foreign students have come from different countries, including countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States. The Academy has an international student support structure for admission and migration-related matters.

The Academy also provides accommodation for students. Its educational information states that students have access to eight dormitories. The dormitories provide study areas, Wi-Fi, sports and recreation spaces, and other basic facilities.

International students staying in Academy accommodation must complete the required migration registration procedures. The Academy's international student office assists students with these processes.

Blagoveshchensk is the administrative centre of the Amur Region. The city lies in the Russian Far East near the Chinese border. Its location gives the city strong cultural and economic connections with neighbouring China.

The city is smaller than Moscow or Saint Petersburg. This can offer a quieter setting for students who prefer a less crowded study environment. Students can access public services, shops, transport, healthcare facilities, and other everyday amenities in the city.

The Academy's location also makes it relevant for students interested in studying in the Russian Far East. It serves the healthcare education needs of the Amur region and surrounding areas.

The Academy has a long history of preparing doctors for regional healthcare. Its graduates work across different medical specialties and healthcare institutions.

The 2026-27 tuition fee for foreign students studying General Medicine in English is RUB 315,000 for the first year. The Academy publishes this amount in its official fee order for the 2026-27 academic year. The fee for students studying General Medicine in Russian is lower.

For students planning the complete six-year budget, future tuition should not be treated as permanently fixed. The Academy publishes fees by academic year and student course. Therefore, the six-year figure is an estimate based on the current English-medium first-year tuition.

The current hostel estimate used for planning is RUB 24,000 per year. This amount is also widely listed for Academy accommodation. Actual accommodation charges can depend on the student's assigned dormitory and applicable university charges.

Food is a personal living expense. A planning budget of around USD 1,200 per year is reasonable for a student living in Blagoveshchensk. Students who cook regularly may spend less, while students who frequently eat outside may spend more.

Medical insurance is mandatory for foreign students. The Academy states that international students must arrange valid medical insurance independently. The insurance cost is not included in tuition and varies according to the insurer and policy.

The Academy also provides support with visa and migration procedures. Foreign students entering Russia under a visa regime need an invitation from the Academy before applying for the appropriate visa.

The World Directory of Medical Schools lists Amur State Medical Academy as a public and operational medical school. Its current WDOMS record lists General Medicine as a six-year programme. The WDOMS record currently lists Russian as the language of instruction, so students should understand that the directory may not yet fully reflect the Academy's newer English-language programme.

For Indian students, WDOMS listing alone should not be treated as a licence to practise medicine in India. Students must meet the National Medical Commission requirements applicable to foreign medical graduates.

Indian students must also qualify NEET when required under Indian regulations. They should check the latest NMC rules before admission because foreign medical graduate requirements can change.

Amur State Medical Academy offers a combination of established medical education, clinical facilities, simulation training, research opportunities, and international education. Its English-language General Medicine programme gives foreign students an additional route to study medicine in Russia.

The Academy can be considered by students who prefer a smaller Russian city and want access to a public medical institution. Its clinical facilities and long history also provide a practical foundation for medical education.

Students should compare tuition, accommodation, food, insurance, travel, and other living costs before making a final decision. They should also confirm the latest admission and licensing requirements for their intended career pathway.
