Search for this college and you'll run into a strange pattern: several supposedly independent pages describe Kushtia Medical College as sitting in Jashore, list Jessore Airport as the nearest airport, and quote an address that starts with '5677+94M, Jashore.' That's not a coincidence it's the same boilerplate template with the college name swapped in, reused across multiple 'MBBS in Bangladesh' directory sites without anyone checking whether the details actually match. Kushtia Medical College is in Kushtia, not Jashore, and the confusion is entirely a content-recycling problem, not a fact about the college.
Kushtia Medical College (KuMC) is a government medical college established on 9th October 2011, one of four medical colleges the Bangladesh government committed to building that year — alongside Satkhira, Gopalganj, and Kishoreganj each with an initial intake of 52 students to expand district-level healthcare capacity. Classes actually started at the Kushtia MATS (Medical Assistant Training School) temporarily, while the permanent campus was built on the bank of a canal beside the Kushtia–Dhaka highway, opposite Housing E-Block.
That start-in-a-borrowed-building history is worth knowing because it explains why KuMC's infrastructure took a few years to catch up to colleges founded in the same wave elsewhere the permanent campus wasn't fully operational until some time after the first batch had already begun their studies.
The attached teaching hospital runs with roughly 250 beds, serving as the primary clinical training site for the college. It's a modest facility compared to some of the larger district hospitals in Khulna Division, but it functions as a genuine general hospital rather than a token teaching ward, and the college now admits around 65 MBBS students annually.
Academic supervision and examinations run under Khulna Medical University, the regional government university created to oversee medical and nursing colleges across Khulna Division. Older material still referencing the University of Rajshahi is describing the pre-2021 arrangement accurate at the time, outdated now.
Fee Breakdown — Full MBBS Course
As a government college, Kushtia Medical College's foreign-quota fee runs on public rates set by DGHS policy rather than a commercially-priced private package this is the same pattern you'll see across Khulna Medical University's public colleges, and it puts KuMC well below the USD 40,000+ range typical of Bangladesh's private MBBS colleges.
Cost Item | Per Year (approx.) | Course Total (INR approx.) |
Tuition Fee (Foreign/SAARC quota) | USD ~3,000–4,500 | INR ~14,00,000–19,00,000 |
Registration & One-Time Charges | One-time | INR ~1,00,000–1,50,000 |
Hostel Fee | Low — government-subsidised | INR ~1,50,000–2,00,000 |
Food & Mess | INR 45,000–65,000/year | INR ~2,25,000–3,25,000 |
Books & Study Material | INR 12,000–18,000/year | INR ~60,000–90,000 |
Travel (India–Bangladesh) | Via Kolkata/Dhaka, then road to Kushtia | INR ~25,000–45,000 total |
Donation / Capitation | None | NIL |
Total Estimated (5 yrs + internship) | $30,000 USD | INR ~23–32 lakh approx. |
The number you should treat with real suspicion is any listing quoting a flat USD 32,000 or USD 36,000 total for KuMC. That figure appears on several directory-style sites verbatim same number, same phrasing right alongside the wrong Jashore address, which is a strong sign it's been copied from a template built for a private college and never corrected for this one.
What Most Pages Get Wrong About Kushtia Medical College
The location and airport errors are the most obvious problem, but they're symptomatic of something bigger: much of the content ranking for 'Kushtia Medical College' wasn't written about Kushtia Medical College at all. It's boilerplate the same paragraph structure, the same phrasing, the same 'Total Tuition Fees' box — reused across a dozen different Bangladesh colleges with only the name and one or two numbers changed. If a page can't get the city right, its fee and eligibility numbers deserve the same scrutiny.
Second, several of those same pages mislabel KuMC as a private college. It's government-run, part of the same public network as Khulna Medical College, Jashore Medical College, and Satkhira Medical College, all supervised by Khulna Medical University. Getting this wrong isn't a minor detail it's the difference between a public-rate fee and a private-college fee that can be more than double.
Third, almost nothing online mentions the college's actual founding story that it began classes at a borrowed MATS building while its permanent canal-side campus was still under construction. That's not a red flag; plenty of Bangladesh's newer government medical colleges started this way. But it's relevant context for judging how mature the campus infrastructure is likely to be relative to colleges that had a purpose-built campus from day one.
Fourth, KuMC's small annual intake around 65 students, expanded from an initial 52 means its Indian-student cohort is smaller than at bigger colleges like Khulna Medical College. That's worth knowing upfront: a smaller peer group has real trade-offs, both in terms of community support and in how much word-of-mouth outcome data is actually available to evaluate the college by.

DGME publishes the foreign-student MBBS/BDS admission circular for the upcoming session, usually around November, separately for SAARC/non-SAARC applicants and government/private colleges.
• Confirm your PCB percentage/GPA and NEET status against the circular's stated minimums. • Gather passport, academic transcripts, NEET scorecard, birth certificate, medical fitness certificate, and other listed documents, with mandatory two-step attestation.
• Shortlist government and/or private colleges based on budget, GPA/NEET strength, and location preference, comparing on recognition status and FMGE track record, not just the lowest fee. • Register on DGME's foreign-student portal, fill in details, and upload documents.
Pay the standard equivalence-certification fee (commonly around USD 100) via bank transfer (TT/SWIFT), not cash.
DGME evaluates your academic equivalence against Bangladeshi grading standards.
• Based on merit, quota category (SAARC/non-SAARC/reserved), and seat availability. • Receive a formal offer/admission letter from the allocated college.
Pay the first-installment tuition and hostel fee, per the college's own schedule.
• Apply at the Bangladesh High Commission/Mission with the admission letter and financial proof; realistic processing time varies by season. • In the final weeks, finalize documents, arrange travel/health insurance, book flights, and confirm hostel allotment in writing.
Fly to Bangladesh and complete airport formalities; many colleges arrange airport pickup for new students on specified reporting dates.
Complete physical document verification and hostel allotment at the college, and register with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka shortly after arrival, an important, non-optional step for consular support.

Kushtia. The college sits beside the Kushtia–Dhaka highway in Kushtia district. Several directory sites incorrectly list a Jashore address and Jessore Airport as the nearest airport — that's copy-pasted boilerplate, not accurate information about this college
