A medical college should be judged on more than its fee figure. For students considering Bangladesh, the important questions are who the college is affiliated with, how the MBBS course is organised, where clinical training takes place, what the published cost actually covers, and what recognition and licensing checks are relevant to the student’s home country.
Diabetic Association Medical College, Faridpur (DAMCF) started its journey on 15 November 2009 and opened its doors to students in the 2009–2010 academic year. The college is established by Faridpur Diabetic Association Trust and is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. It is recognised by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC), approved by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, and listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. The college follows the MBBS curriculum laid down by the University of Dhaka and BM&DC, while the University of Dhaka conducts the professional examinations and awards the MBBS degree.
The MBBS programme is five years in duration, with English as the medium of instruction for foreign students. The attached Diabetic Association Medical College Hospital provides the clinical setting for practical learning and internship training. The college's current website also shows active academic events and skills-based teaching activities in 2026. citeturn0search1turn0search2turn0search4
For foreign students, the college currently publishes a total package of US$42,000. This includes a US$21,500 admission fee, US$1,900 internee fee, US$15,000 tuition for the full MBBS course and US$3,600 for five years of AC hostel accommodation. Food, University of Dhaka professional examination fees and the fourth-year study tour are separate.
Cost Item | Published Amount | Notes |
Admission Fee | US$21,500 | Foreign-student admission fee |
Internee Fee | US$1,900 | Published as refundable through internship honorarium arrangement |
Tuition Fee | US$15,000 | Full 5-year MBBS course |
AC Hostel | US$3,600 | US$60/month for 5 years |
Published Total | US$42,000 | College-published foreign-student package |
Food | Separate | Student bears food cost |
DU Professional Examination Fees | Separate | Payable according to University of Dhaka fees |
4th-Year Study Tour | Separate | Cost determined for the tour |
The college also publishes a four-installment payment schedule for foreign students: US$15,000 before admission, followed by US$9,000 before the second, third and fourth years. The college states that fees are non-refundable and that students continuing in the hostel after five years pay the accommodation rate applicable at that time.
The strongest reason to consider DAMCF is not a marketing label; it is the combination of an established institution, University of Dhaka affiliation, a regulated MBBS programme and an attached teaching hospital. The college says it began in 2009 and now reports 443 MBBS graduates, 16 student batches and 127+ faculty and staff.
The clinical side is equally important. The college's current department pages describe bedside teaching and clinical learning across Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, ENT and other areas. The institution also highlights a 500-bed hospital in its current information. citeturn0search4turn0search7
There is, however, a practical point students should not overlook: the headline foreign-student package is not the same thing as a complete personal living budget. Food and certain academic expenses sit outside the US$42,000 figure. That should be factored into the financial plan before admission.

DGME publishes the foreign-student MBBS/BDS admission circular for the upcoming session, usually around November, separately for SAARC/non-SAARC applicants and government/private colleges.
• Confirm your PCB percentage/GPA and NEET status against the circular's stated minimums. • Gather passport, academic transcripts, NEET scorecard, birth certificate, medical fitness certificate, and other listed documents, with mandatory two-step attestation.
• Shortlist government and/or private colleges based on budget, GPA/NEET strength, and location preference, comparing on recognition status and FMGE track record, not just the lowest fee. • Register on DGME's foreign-student portal, fill in details, and upload documents.
Pay the standard equivalence-certification fee (commonly around USD 100) via bank transfer (TT/SWIFT), not cash.
DGME evaluates your academic equivalence against Bangladeshi grading standards.
• Based on merit, quota category (SAARC/non-SAARC/reserved), and seat availability. • Receive a formal offer/admission letter from the allocated college.
Pay the first-installment tuition and hostel fee, per the college's own schedule.
• Apply at the Bangladesh High Commission/Mission with the admission letter and financial proof; realistic processing time varies by season. • In the final weeks, finalize documents, arrange travel/health insurance, book flights, and confirm hostel allotment in writing.
Fly to Bangladesh and complete airport formalities; many colleges arrange airport pickup for new students on specified reporting dates.
Complete physical document verification and hostel allotment at the college, and register with the Indian High Commission in Dhaka shortly after arrival, an important, non-optional step for consular support.
