Smolensk State Medical University (SGMU)

Smolensk State Medical University (SGMU) is one of Russia's oldest government medical institutions, founded in 1920, making it 106 years old in 2026. It is located in Smolensk, a historically significant city approximately 360 kilometres west-southwest of Moscow, near the border with Belarus, which has been one of Russia's most significant frontier cities for over a thousand years of Russian history.
