Most Indian families spend 3–4 months deciding whether to go to MBBS in Uzbekistan and 3–4 days deciding which university in Uzbekistan. That ratio should be reversed. The country decision has roughly the same outcome for most families: affordable Central Asian MBBS, NMC-compliant options, and straightforward admission. The university decision has a potentially 30–40 percentage point impact on your FMGE/NExT pass rate. That is not an exaggeration; it is what the December 2025 FMGE data shows.
Here is what no other comparison blog about Uzbekistan medical universities has published: in FMGE December 2025, Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health posted 51% (63/123 candidates), the highest FMGE outcome of any Uzbekistan university with a meaningful sample size. Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) posted 47%, up from 11% just two years earlier in 2023. These two universities, both non-flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory, now lead Uzbekistan's FMGE landscape.
Then there is the NMC April 2026 advisory: four Uzbekistan institutions flagged for FMGL violations. Ironically, the previously top-cited university. Bukhara State Medical Institute (47.83% FMGE 2024) is on that list. Samarkand State Medical University, the most heavily promoted institution for Indian students by intake count, posted 12.96% FMGE 2024 and is also flagged.
This guide cuts through the promotional noise. It covers 8 universities across 40+ factors, gives you the December 2025 FMGE data where available, explains exactly which institutions carry NMC advisory risk and why, and gives you a decision framework that helps you choose the right university for your specific profile, not the one paying the most commission.
December 2025 FMGE Results Uzbekistan: Fergana Medical Institute (FMIPH) 51% (63/123 candidates, best in Uzbekistan). Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) 47% (106/225 candidates, improved from 11% in 2023). These are the two strongest-performing universities in Uzbekistan. Both are non-flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory. |
Key Decision Factors: Choose University, Not Just Country |
1: NMC Advisory Status: The NMC April 2026 advisory flagged Bukhara (BSMI), Samarkand (SSMU), Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU), and TIT Bangalore. This is the primary filter before any comparison. Universities on this list carry compliance risk for NExT eligibility. Any comparison that does not address this first is missing the most important factor. |
2: FMGE/NExT Outcomes: December 2025 data: Fergana 51%, TMA 47%. These outperform the pre-advisory "best" (Bukhara 47.83%) and are from non-flagged institutions. University choice in Uzbekistan has a documented 30–40 percentage point impact on FMGE outcomes. This is the second filter after NMC status. |
3: Total Cost vs Value: Uzbekistan universities range from ₹18–33 lakh all-in over 6 years. The cheapest option and the best-FMGE option are different institutions. The right trade-off depends on your financial constraint and your career goal. |
4: City and Liveability: Tashkent (capital, highest cost), Andijan/Fergana (Fergana Valley warmer, lower cost), Namangan (Fergana Valley very affordable), Qarshi/Termez (southern lowest cost, smallest Indian community). City quality of life differs meaningfully. |
5: Clinical Exposure: Teaching hospital quality, bed capacity, OPD load, and case diversity vary significantly. Tashkent hospitals are the largest and most diverse. Fergana Valley regional hospitals are smaller but have high patient volumes. Clinical exposure directly affects NExT preparation quality. |
The 10 Factors Every Indian Student Should Evaluate Before Marketing Materials
Every consultancy promoting a university in Uzbekistan will tell you the same things: affordable fees, English medium, NMC approved, good hostels, Indian food. These claims are roughly true for most universities. They do not help you choose between them.
The following 10 factors actually differentiate universities in Uzbekistan. Use these as your evaluation lens across every university in this guide.
Factor | Why It Matters | What to Verify |
NMC Advisory Status | An advisory means potential NExT ineligibility a career-ending consequence. | Check nmc.org.in directly; the April 2026 advisory is the latest as of this writing. |
FMGE/NExT Pass Rate | Single biggest outcome indicator. A 30-point gap between universities in the same country is real and documented. | Ask for NBEMS data reference — not the consultancy's claim. Year, candidates appeared, candidates passed. |
Teaching Hospital Quality | Clinical training in Years 3–6 shapes diagnostic reasoning and NExT clinical scores. | Bed capacity, OPD load, speciality departments, whether bedside teaching is structured or passive. |
English-Medium Compliance | The NMC advisory specifically flagged institutions where English instruction was not being maintained in practice. | Request Language of Instruction Certificate; verify with current enrolled students independently. |
Faculty — Indian NExT Focus | Indian faculty who align teaching to NExT pattern significantly improve outcomes. | How many Indian faculty? Are there structured FMGE/NExT classes? When do they begin? |
Total Honest Cost | Quoted fees vs actual all-in varies significantly across consultancies for the same university. | Tuition + hostel + Indian mess + registration + visa + airfare + living. Not just tuition. |
Indian Student Community Size | Peer study networks, cultural support, established Indian mess infrastructure. | Number of Indian students currently enrolled — not historical total. |
City Safety and Liveability | 6 years is a long time. Quality of life matters for academic performance. | Crime data, transportation access, healthcare availability, Schengen or regional travel options. |
Hostel Quality | Basic amenities, heating, food, security, gender separation, proximity to academic buildings. | Ask for recent photos, not stock images. Speak to current students. |
Internship Structure | Must be completed at the same university in Uzbekistan. The quality of the internship affects NExT Step 2. | Confirm the affiliated hospitals for internship. Verify with NMC that the university's internship structure satisfies FMGL 2021. |
NMC April 2026 Advisory For Indian Students
The NMC issued its fifth advisory about Uzbekistan on April 1, 2026. This is the most important regulatory event affecting Uzbekistan MBBS in 2026, and any comparison that does not address it first is dangerously incomplete.
University | NMC April 2026 Status | FMGE 2024 | AMW 2026 Recommendation |
Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) | NOT FLAGGED safe to apply in 2026 | 100% (4/4 candidates tiny sample) | Recommended top FMGE December 2025 (47%, 225 candidates) |
Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIPH) | NOT FLAGGED — safe to apply in 2026 | Not separately reported in 2024 (est. 25-35%) | Strongly recommended best FMGE December 2025 (51%, 123 candidates) |
Andijan State Medical Institute | NOT FLAGGED | ~25–35% est. | Recommended credible non-flagged option; Fergana Valley proximity |
Namangan State Medical Institute | NOT FLAGGED — confirmed by multiple 2026 sources | Limited data published | RECOMMENDED with verification NMC not named; WDOMS check required |
Qarshi State Medical Institute | Not named in advisory | Very limited data | Verify WDOMS independently before applying |
Termez State Medical Institute | Not named in advisory | Very limited data | Verify WDOMS independently; smaller institution |
Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI) | FLAGGED NMC April 2026 advisory | 47.83% (299 candidates) best in 2024 before advisory | Verify current compliance status before any payment in 2026 |
Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU) | FLAGGED NMC April 2026 advisory | 12.96% (54 candidates) | NOT RECOMMENDED in 2026. Flagged AND worst FMGE. |
Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU) | FLAGGED NMC April 2026 advisory | Not clearly reported | NOT RECOMMENDED. TSMU ≠ Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA). Different institution. |
TIT Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore | FLAGGED NMC April 2026 advisory | N/A | Offshore model not a recognised foreign university. Avoid entirely. |
NMC Advisory Warning: TSMU (Tashkent State Medical University) and TMA (Tashkent Medical Academy) are two different institutions. TSMU is flagged. TMA is not. Any consultancy that uses these names interchangeably is either confused or deliberately misleading. Verify which institution your offer letter comes from before paying any fee. Ask for the WDOMS listing URL for the specific institution. |
FMGE December 2025 & 2024 University-Wise Data
The most complete FMGE picture for Uzbekistan now comes from combining 2024 NBEMS published data with the December 2025 results that have since been reported. December 2025 is the most recent session, and it shows a dramatically changed landscape from 2024.

Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU) | Not clearly reported | Not clearly reported | Unclear data; NMC flagged | FLAGGED Apr 2026 |
December 2025 FMGE data sourced from overseasmedicalstudy.com and mbbsdirect.com based on NBEMS December 2025 session results. FMGE 2024 data for Bukhara (47.83%, 299 candidates) and Samarkand (12.96%, 54 candidates) is from NBEMS published data. Always cross-verify any FMGE figure against the specific session, number of candidates, and NBEMS publication before using it as a decision basis. |
University Profiles Top 6 Recommendations for 2026
Based on the NMC advisory filter applied first and FMGE data second, six universities remain credible options for Indian students in 2026. Two flagged universities (Bukhara and Samarkand) are covered separately with their compliance context. We do not recommend TSMU or TIT at all.
1. Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIPH) Best FMGE in Uzbekistan
Feature | Details |
Full Name | Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIPH) — part of Fergana State University |
Established | 1991 (as a medical centre), gained Institute status subsequently |
Type | Government public institution |
Location | Fergana city, Fergana Valley, eastern Uzbekistan |
FMGE December 2025 | 51% — 63 out of 123 candidates — #1 in Uzbekistan |
Annual Tuition | USD 3,500–3,800/year |
Total Tuition (6 years) | USD 21,000–22,800 ≈ ₹20.4–22.1 lakh |
Total 6-Yr All-In | ₹22–28 lakh (tuition + hostel + Indian mess + living) |
Indian Mess | Available — included in fees at some packages; Indian faculty: 15+ |
NMC Status | Not flagged — NMC, WHO, WDOMS, FAIMER recognised |
Teaching Hospital | Fergana Regional Hospital + affiliated district hospitals |
Indian Student Community | Established since 2019; growing rapidly — largest in Fergana |
Best For | Budget-conscious students who prioritise FMGE outcomes; Fergana Valley warmer climate |
FMIPH is the standout recommendation for 2026. The 51% December 2025 FMGE result is the highest of any Uzbekistan university with a meaningful sample size. It is also not flagged in the NMC advisory. The total cost (₹22–28 lakh all-in) is competitive. The 15+ Indian faculty provide structured NExT preparation integrated into the curriculum. The Fergana Valley location is warmer than Tashkent, and living costs are lower. For students choosing Uzbekistan in 2026, FMIPH is the default first evaluation.
2. Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) Most Improved, Capital City
Feature | Details |
Full Name | Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) |
Established | 2005 (roots to 1920) |
Type | Government public institution |
Location | Tashkent (capital city) |
FMGE December 2025 | 47% — 106 out of 225 candidates (up from 11% in 2023) |
Annual Tuition | USD 3,500/year |
Total Tuition (6 years) | USD 21,000 ≈ ₹20.4 lakh |
Total 6-Yr All-In | ₹26–33 lakh (Tashkent higher living costs) |
Indian Mess | Available; Indian food integrated into hostel packages at many TMA admission packages |
NMC Status | Not flagged — NMC, WHO, WDOMS recognised |
Teaching Hospital | Tashkent Republican Clinical Hospital + multiple Tashkent affiliate hospitals |
Indian Student Community | Established and growing — Tashkent has the largest overall Indian community in Uzbekistan. |
Best For | Students who want capital city infrastructure, strongest hospital exposure, and a proven improvement trajectory |
TMA's FMGE journey is the most dramatic in Uzbekistan: 11% in 2023, rising to 47% in December 2025. This is not a statistical fluke; it reflects a structural change in how TMA prepares students for NExT. The capital city location means the strongest teaching hospital infrastructure, the largest patient diversity, and the most established student support ecosystem in Uzbekistan. Living costs in Tashkent are higher than in the Fergana Valley, but the quality of clinical exposure justifies the premium for students prioritising NExT outcomes.
3. Andijan State Medical Institute: Warm Climate, Credible Track Record
Feature | Details |
Full Name | Andijan State Medical Institute |
Established | 1955 |
Type | Government public institution |
Location | Andijan city, Fergana Valley, eastern Uzbekistan |
FMGE | ~25–35% estimated; not separately published in NBEMS |
Annual Tuition | USD 3,000–3,500/year |
Total Tuition (6 years) | USD 18,000–21,000 ≈ ₹17.5–20.4 lakh |
Total 6-Yr All-In | ₹22–28 lakh |
Indian Mess | Available; established Indian student infrastructure |
NMC Status | Not flagged — NMC, WHO, WDOMS recognised |
Teaching Hospital | Andijan Regional Hospital + district affiliates |
Climate | Warmest of the major cities — winters mild (0 to −5°C), summers hot (38–42°C) |
Best For | Budget-first students; warmer climate; credible non-flagged institution with lower cost than FMIPH/TMA |
4. Namangan State Medical Institute Affordable, Non-Flagged
Feature | Details |
Full Name | Namangan State Medical Institute (also: Namangan State Medical University) |
Established | 1942 (as part of broader Namangan State University) |
Type | Government public institution |
Location | Namangan city, Fergana Valley, northern Uzbekistan |
FMGE | Not separately published; available NBEMS data insufficient for a reliable estimate. |
Annual Tuition | USD 2,800–3,500/year |
Total Tuition (6 years) | USD 16,800–21,000 ≈ ₹16.3–20.4 lakh |
Total 6-Yr All-In | ₹29–30 lakh (realistic verified figure) |
Hostel + Mess | Available; total all-in ₹29–30 lakh confirmed across multiple 2026 enrollment sources |
NMC Status | Not flagged in NMC April 2026 advisory — NMC, WHO, WDOMS listed |
Indian Student Community | Growing; smaller than Fergana or Tashkent. |
Best For | Budget-priority students who need a non-flagged, affordable option in a Fergana Valley city |
The Namangan honest note: Namangan is not flagged, which is an important positive in 2026. Published FMGE data for Namangan specifically is not available at the level of detail we have for FMIPH or TMA. Students choosing Namangan must treat consistent NExT preparation from Year 1 as essential institutional FMGE data cannot currently serve as a planning benchmark.
5. Qarshi State Medical Institute Best Budget Option
Feature | Details |
Full Name | Qarshi State Medical Institute (part of Karshi State University) |
Location | Qarshi city, Kashkadarya region, south-central Uzbekistan |
FMGE | No reliable published data — insufficient candidates in published NBEMS reports |
Annual Tuition | USD 2,500–3,500/year (wide range — confirm directly with university) |
Total 6-Yr All-In | ₹18–24 lakh (estimated) |
NMC Status | Not named in NMC April 2026 advisory — verify WDOMS listing independently. |
Indian Student Community | Very small relative to Fergana Valley or Tashkent options |
Best For | Students where budget is an absolute constraint (₹18–22 lakh range) and who understand the absence of published FMGE data |
Bukhara and Samarkand: The Flagged Options and the Honest Assessment
Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI): The Contradiction.
Bukhara posted 47.83% FMGE in 2024 (299 candidates), the top institutional figure in Uzbekistan that year. It was also named in the NMC April 2026 advisory for FMGE violations (intake capacity exceeded; unverified agent intake). Both facts are simultaneously true. For students considering Bukhara in 2026, the question is: has the NMC advisory been resolved? AMW recommends independently verifying current NMC compliance at nmc.org.in before any payment.
Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU): Two Problems, No Solution.
SSMU is both NMC flagged (April 2026) and posted the worst FMGE in Uzbekistan: 12.96% (54 candidates, 2024). It has the largest Indian student intake of any Uzbekistan university, is the most heavily promoted by volume-focused consultancies, and carries the highest risk of any recommended institution in the country. There is no scenario in 2026 where SSMU is the correct recommendation for a student who wants to practise medicine in India.

Budgeting tip: Always budget for one visit home per year at minimum family medical emergencies happen and having zero home visit budget for 6 years creates real stress. Factor ₹20,000–30,000 per round trip from Fergana Valley; ₹12,000–20,000 from Tashkent. Students who travel home once per semester spend ₹40,000–60,000/year on flights a meaningful addition to the annual budget. |
NExT/FMGE Preparation Which Universities Have Structured Support?
The difference between a 51% pass rate (FMIPH) and a 12.96% pass rate (Samarkand) is not entirely explained by curriculum differences. A significant portion is explained by how early and how systematically the university integrates NExT preparation into the MBBS programme.

Which University Is Right for Which Student?
There is no universally "best" medical university in Uzbekistan. There is a best fit for your specific profile. Here is the honest decision framework.

FMGE/NExT outcomes are your #1 priority and budget allows ₹22–28 lakh all-in | FMIPH (Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health) | 51% December 2025 FMGE (123 candidates). Best outcome data in Uzbekistan. 15+ Indian faculty. Integrated NExT coaching. Non-flagged. |
Capital city infrastructure and hospital exposure matter most and you can budget ₹26–33 lakh | TMA (Tashkent Medical Academy) | 47% December 2025 (225 candidates). Largest teaching hospitals in Uzbekistan. Most established Indian student community in Tashkent. Non-flagged. Most improved FMGE trend in Uzbekistan. |
Warmest climate in Uzbekistan is a priority and budget is ₹22–27 lakh | Andijan State Medical Institute | Not NMC flagged. Fergana Valley warmth (Andijan is the warmest major city). Established Indian community 10+ years. Credible option with no advisory risk. |
Absolute minimum budget (under ₹22 lakh all-in) and non-flagged institution | Namangan State Medical Institute or Qarshi | Not flagged. Lowest tuition in Uzbekistan. Fergana Valley location (Namangan). Must compensate limited FMGE data with self-directed NExT prep from Year 1. |
Your budget is ₹22–28 lakh but you want Tashkent city and best FMGE | TMA total cost is same | At similar FMGE levels (51% vs 47%), TMA Tashkent is competitive with FMIPH Fergana once city preference is factored. |
You are considering Bukhara or Samarkand | Research current NMC compliance status before any decision | Bukhara had best FMGE data in 2024 (47.83%) but is NMC flagged April 2026. Samarkand is both flagged AND has the worst FMGE (12.96%). Verify nmc.org.in status as of your application date. |
Myth vs Fact Common Misconceptions About Uzbekistan Medical Universities
MYTH: Higher tuition always means better education in Uzbekistan. FACT: Fee levels in Uzbekistan do not correlate directly with FMGE outcomes. FMIPH at $3,500–3,800/year posts 51% FMGE. Samarkand at $3,500–3,850/year posts 12.96%. Choose by FMGE data and NMC compliance, not by fee level. |
MYTH: Samarkand is the best city so Samarkand university must be the best. FACT: Samarkand is a UNESCO World Heritage city. Samarkand State Medical University posted 12.96% FMGE and is NMC flagged. City reputation and university quality are independent variables. |
MYTH: The university with the most Indian students is the safest choice. FACT: SSMU (Samarkand) has the largest Indian student intake of any Uzbekistan university. It is flagged by NMC and has the worst FMGE outcomes. Volume of students reflects marketing budgets, not educational quality. |
MYTH: If the university is NMC approved, it is safe to apply. FACT: NMC approval changes after advisories. Bukhara was NMC approved and posted the best FMGE and is now flagged. Approval is not permanent. Check nmc.org.in at the time of application, not the time of a consultancy's blog post. |
MYTH: Any Uzbekistan university costs about ₹18–20 lakh total. FACT: Total all-in costs range from ₹18 lakh (Qarshi, budget) to ₹33 lakh (TMA, Tashkent, premium living). The ₹18–20 lakh figure typically excludes Indian mess, airfare, personal expenses, and one annual home visit. Use ₹22–30 lakh as the realistic planning range for most students. |
Common Mistakes Students Make Choosing a Uzbekistan University
Mistake | Why It Happens | What to Do Instead |
Choosing based on consultancy commission (not disclosed) | Consultancies earn higher commissions from specific universities particularly high-volume intake universities | Ask the consultancy directly what commission arrangement they have with each university they recommend. Their recommendation should include FMGE data. |
Trusting "NMC approved" without checking current advisory status | Universities publish "NMC approved" long after an advisory has been issued | Check nmc.org.in directly. The April 2026 advisory is clear four specific institutions named. |
Comparing only tuition and ignoring all-in costs | Tuition is the headline number; hostel, mess, travel, and registration are the real costs | Build a complete budget: tuition + hostel + Indian mess ($1,200/year) + annual flight home + registration + living. See the budget table in this guide. |
Choosing the most popular university on social media | Social media visibility is driven by marketing spend, not educational outcomes | Check FMGE data. December 2025 results are the most current available. 51% (FMIPH) and 47% (TMA) vs 12.96% (SSMU) the social media favourite. |
Not verifying English-medium compliance | Universities claim English medium; NMC advisory specifically flagged this violation | Request Language of Instruction Certificate from the registrar. Speak to current Indian students independently not those referred by the consultancy. |
Ignoring clinical training quality | Students focus on pre-clinical years; clinical Years 3–6 determine NExT readiness | Ask: how many beds in the teaching hospital? What is the OPD patient load? Is bedside teaching structured or passive? How many clinical rotations per week? |
Assuming all non-flagged universities are equivalent | They share non-flagged status but differ significantly in FMGE outcomes and infrastructure | Within non-flagged options, compare FMGE December 2025 data, total cost, city, and clinical infrastructure before finalising. |
Expert Checklist Verify Before Admission
Work through every item before paying any fee.
NMC Advisory Check: Visit nmc.org.in and confirm no advisory against your chosen university as of today not as of when this blog was written
WDOMS Verification: Visit wdoms.org, search the specific university name, confirm it appears with a valid listing and Sponsor Note for ECFMG eligibility
FMGE Data Request: Ask your consultancy for the specific FMGE result year, session, number appeared, number passed. If they quote a percentage without these three numbers, the figure is not verifiable
Language of Instruction Certificate: Request from the university registrar not the admissions team, not the consultancy that the programme is 100% English medium throughout all 6 years
Teaching Hospital Verification: Ask for the name, bed count, and location of the primary teaching hospital. Visit its website or search independently
Total Cost Calculation: Build a complete 6-year budget: tuition + hostel + Indian mess + registration + visa + annual home flight + monthly living × 66 months
Student Testimonials Independent: Speak to currently enrolled Indian students at the specific university not through the consultancy referral network. Seek out students through independent alumni networks or university student WhatsApp groups
Admission Letter Review: Confirm the letter specifies: (a) English-medium programme, (b) 5 years academic + 1 year internship, (c) internship at the same university in Uzbekistan
NMC Eligibility Certificate: Apply to NMC for your Eligibility Certificate BEFORE departure. This requires your NEET score, WDOMS listing, and acceptance letter. Without it, NExT eligibility is at risk
Migration Registration Plan: Confirm your arrival process migration registration is mandatory within 3 days in Uzbekistan. Verify your consultancy has local support in the city of your university
Key Takeaways
The Landscape Changed in December 2025: Fergana Medical Institute (51% FMGE Dec 2025, 123 candidates) and Tashkent Medical Academy (47% Dec 2025, 225 candidates) are now the top-performing non-flagged universities in Uzbekistan. These results post-date most comparison blogs and completely reorder the recommendation hierarchy.
Four Universities Are NMC Flagged: Bukhara (BSMI), Samarkand (SSMU), Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU), and TIT Bangalore. Students at flagged universities risk NExT ineligibility. TSMU ≠ TMA these are different institutions. SSMU has both the worst FMGE and is flagged the worst combination possible.
University Choice Determines FMGE Outcome: 51% (FMIPH) vs 12.96% (SSMU). A 38-point gap between universities in the same country, in the same year. No other single decision in MBBS abroad country, city, hostel, fees has this magnitude of impact on the outcome that determines whether you can practise medicine in India.
Total Cost Is Not What Consultancies Quote: Add tuition + hostel + Indian mess ($1,200/year) + registration + visa + annual home flight + 66 months of living expenses. Realistic range: ₹22–33 lakh depending on university and city. Not ₹18–20 lakh.
The Right University Depends on Your Profile: FMGE-first → FMIPH. Capital city and best hospital infrastructure → TMA. Warmest climate on a budget → Andijan. Minimum total cost and non-flagged → Namangan or Qarshi. No universally "best" university only best fit for your specific priorities.
Verify Everything Independently: NMC advisory at nmc.org.in. WDOMS at wdoms.org. FMGE data at natboard.edu.in. Language of instruction from the registrar. Current student testimonials from independent channels. Do not rely on any single consultancy's claims.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Which is the best medical university in Uzbekistan for Indian students in 2026?
Based on December 2025 FMGE data and non-flagged NMC status: Fergana Medical Institute of Public Health (FMIPH) 51% (63/123 candidates) is the best-performing Uzbekistan university with a meaningful sample size. Tashkent Medical Academy (47%, 225 candidates) is the second-best and offers the capital city's clinical infrastructure advantage. Both are non-flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory.
Q2. Which universities are named in the NMC April 2026 advisory?
Four institutions: Bukhara State Medical Institute (BSMI), Samarkand State Medical University (SSMU), Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU), and TIT Institute of Medical Sciences, Bangalore. TSMU is a completely separate institution from TMA (Tashkent Medical Academy), which is NOT flagged.
Q3. Is Fergana better than Namangan for MBBS?
On FMGE data: yes FMIPH Fergana posted 51% (December 2025) vs no published FMGE data for Namangan. On cost: Namangan is slightly more affordable (₹29–30 lakh total verified vs ₹22–28 lakh for FMIPH).
Q4. Which Uzbekistan city has the best clinical exposure?
Tashkent by a significant margin. The Republican Clinical Hospital plus multiple specialty hospitals in the capital means higher patient diversity, larger bed counts, and more complex case exposure than any regional Uzbekistan city. TMA students benefit directly from this. FMIPH Fergana has very good patient volume
Q5. Which is the most affordable NMC-approved medical university in Uzbekistan?
Qarshi State Medical Institute and Termez State Medical Institute are the lowest-cost options (₹18–22 lakh all-in estimated) and are not named in the NMC advisory. Namangan is also affordable (₹29–30 lakh including all costs).
Q6. What is the English medium situation in Uzbekistan universities?
Academic instruction at all recommended universities is in English for the international student track. The NMC April 2026 advisory specifically flagged TSMU for failing to maintain English-medium instruction in clinical settings.
Q7. Can I appear for USMLE after MBBS from a Uzbekistan university?
Yes, provided your university is WDOMS-listed with a valid Sponsor Note (required for ECFMG certification). All NMC-approved Uzbekistan universities on the recommended list in this guide are WDOMS-listed.
Q8. How safe is Uzbekistan for Indian students?
Uzbekistan has a very low crime rate by international standards. Tashkent is a modern, well-policed capital. Fergana Valley cities (Fergana, Andijan, Namangan) are smaller and conservative in character but consistently reported as safe by Indian students.
Q9. What is the difference between Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA) and Tashkent State Medical University (TSMU)?
Completely separate institutions. TMA was established in 2005, is not flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory, and posted 47% FMGE December 2025. TSMU is an older institution (1919) that IS flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory for FMGL violations.
Q10. Is Bukhara State Medical Institute still a good option after the NMC advisory?
Bukhara posted 47.83% FMGE in 2024 the top result in Uzbekistan that year. It was then flagged in the NMC April 2026 advisory for intake capacity violations and FMGL compliance issues.
