The Alexandria National University (ANU) Faculty of Medicine is a modern extension of the historic Alexandria University, established in 2021 as part of Egypt's "National Universities" initiative. These universities are non-profit, state-supported institutions designed to provide world-class, technologically advanced education at a lower cost than private colleges. ANU inherits the academic legacy and clinical training infrastructure of Alexandria University (est. 1938), but operates with more modern curricula and specialized facilities.
