Admission to AIIMS Guwahati is not handled by the Assam state counselling (DME). It is done exclusively through national-level counselling.

• MBBS: Admission is strictly based on rank obtained in the NEET-UG examination. Counselling and seat allotment for 100% of seats are conducted centrally by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), DGHS, Govt. of India under the 'AIIMS' category.

• MD / MS: Admission is strictly based on rank obtained in the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INI-CET), conducted by AIIMS Delhi.

• B.Sc (Hons) Nursing: Admission is based on the AIIMS B.Sc Nursing Entrance Examination conducted annually by AIIMS Delhi, followed by centralized counselling.

• Ph.D.: Admission is based on the AIIMS Ph.D. Entrance Examination.
