• Campus Size & Vibe: The campus is an 8-acre urban campus that functions primarily as the administrative and examination headquarters for the state's professional colleges.

• Infrastructure & Facilities:

• Administrative Blocks: Houses the Vice-Chancellor's office, Registrar's office, examination control, and other administrative departments.

• On-Campus Centres: AKU has a few of its own postgraduate centers on campus (e.g., for Geography, Environmental Studies, Journalism).

• Hostels: The university provides limited hostel facilities on its campus (approx. 15 rooms for boys and 16 for girls), primarily for students of its on-campus PG departments.

• Amenities: Includes a library, laboratories (for on-campus courses), a medical center, and transport facilities. The main infrastructure (labs, libraries, hospitals) is located at the respective affiliated colleges.

Healthcare & Medical Education (MBBS)

AKU does not have its own constituent medical college or teaching hospital.

Its "Faculty of Medicine" is an administrative body that grants affiliation to all government and private medical colleges in Bihar. Students who study MBBS in any college in Bihar (except for AIIMS and IGIMS, which are autonomous) receive their degree from Aryabhatta Knowledge University.

Fee Structure

The fee structure is not set by AKU but by the Government of Bihar (e.g., via the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board - BCECEB) and the state's Fee Regulatory Committee.

Hostel & Mess Facilities

Hostel and mess facilities are not provided by the university's central campus (except for the very few on-campus PG students). These facilities are provided by the individual affiliated colleges (e.g., PMCH, MIT, BCE, etc.) to their respective students. Costs and room quality vary significantly between government and private institutions.

• Government College Hostels: Generally very affordable, with annual fees as low as ₹10,000 - ₹20,000 (plus mess charges).

• Private College Hostels: More expensive, often ranging from ₹60,000 to ₹1,00,000+ per year (including mess).

Admissions Process (Centralized State Counselling)

AKU does not conduct its own admissions for its affiliated colleges. All admissions are handled by the Bihar state government's centralized bodies.

• Engineering (B.Tech): Admission to all government and private engineering colleges is strictly based on rank in the JEE (Main) examination. Seat allotment is managed by the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) through its Under Graduate Engineering Admission Counselling (UGEAC).

• Medical/Dental (MBBS/BDS/AYUSH): Admission is strictly based on rank in the NEET-UG examination. Seat allotment for all quotas (State Quota, Management Quota, NRI Quota) in all affiliated colleges is handled by the BCECEB through its Under Graduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC).

• PG Medical/Dental (MD/MS/MDS): Admission is based on NEET-PG and NEET-MDS ranks, with counselling by BCECEB (PGMAC).

• MBA/MCA (Affiliated): Admission is based on national tests like CAT, MAT, CMAT or state tests, followed by counselling by the respective institutes (like L.N. Mishra).

• On-Campus PG Courses (MA/M.Tech): Admission is based on a university-conducted entrance test or merit in the qualifying exam.

Career Pathways & Placements

As an affiliating university, AKU does not have a central placement cell. Placements are handled by the individual affiliated colleges.

• Engineering (Govt): Placements at top government colleges (MIT, BCE) are decent, with companies like TCS, Wipro, HCL, and Infosys recruiting. The average package is typically in the ₹3.5 LPA - ₹5.0 LPA range, with the highest packages reaching ₹10 LPA - ₹20 LPA (often from off-campus placements).

• Medical (Govt): Graduates complete their mandatory 1-year internship (with stipend) at their respective teaching hospitals. They are highly sought after for Junior Residency, state government service (often fulfilling a service bond), or prepare for NEET-PG for specialization.

• Private Colleges: Placement outcomes vary widely depending on the institution.

Provisions for NRI admissions exist within the affiliated private colleges and are managed by the state counselling authority.
