Dr. YSRUHS operates from its administrative headquarters in Vijayawada.

• Location: Situated in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

• Campus Role: Similar to other state health universities, the Dr. YSRUHS campus functions primarily as the central administrative and examination center. It's where the university leadership (Vice-Chancellor, Registrar), Controller of Examinations, affiliation departments, and academic governance bodies operate. It's the nerve center for managing health education statewide. 

• Infrastructure: Expect modern administrative buildings designed for university governance, conducting state-level counselling processes (often managed online), processing examination results, and holding official meetings. It is not a traditional teaching campus where students attend daily classes for MBBS or other health science programs.

Healthcare Network: Statewide Affiliated Hospitals

Dr. YSRUHS does not operate its own large-scale, central teaching hospital on its administrative campus. Its clinical infrastructure is the extensive network of hospitals associated with the colleges it affiliates throughout Andhra Pradesh.

• Affiliated Hospitals: Every teaching hospital linked to a government or private medical, dental, AYUSH, nursing, or paramedical college in Andhra Pradesh falls under Dr. YSRUHS's academic jurisdiction. This includes major government hospitals like those associated with Andhra Medical College (Visakhapatnam), Guntur Medical College, Kurnool Medical College, Rangaraya Medical College (Kakinada), SVIMS (Tirupati - for certain affiliations), and all private medical college hospitals (like NRI Medical College, GSL, Konaseema, etc.), dental hospitals, and AYUSH hospitals. 

• Training Ground: Students pursuing MBBS, BDS, BAMS/BHMS/BUMS, Nursing, Physiotherapy, or Paramedical courses under Dr. YSRUHS receive their complete clinical training, internships, and practical experience at the specific hospital attached to their allotted college. Dr. YSRUHS ensures the quality and uniformity of this training through its prescribed curriculum and university examinations.

Fee Structure: State Regulations & Quotas in AP

Fees for courses under Dr. YSRUHS are strictly regulated by the Andhra Pradesh state government (often through Government Orders - GOs) and vary significantly based on college type (Govt/Pvt) and admission quota (Govt Quota/Management Quota/NRI Quota).

Campus Living: Managed by Affiliated Colleges

As Dr. YSRUHS functions primarily as an administrative and examining body from Vijayawada, it does not provide centralized hostel facilities for students enrolled in its numerous affiliated colleges across Andhra Pradesh.

• College Hostels: Residential facilities (hostels) and dining arrangements (mess) are entirely managed by the individual affiliated colleges where students gain admission (e.g., Andhra Medical College, Guntur Medical College, NRI Medical College, GSL Medical College, etc.). 

• Facilities & Fees: The availability, quality of rooms, mess food, hostel regulations, and the associated hostel and mess fees are all determined by and paid directly to the respective college administration. Costs vary dramatically between government colleges (highly subsidized) and private colleges (market-driven rates).

Admissions & Career Pathways: State-Centric Process

• Getting Admitted:

• MBBS / BDS / AYUSH UG: Admission is strictly via NEET-UG rank. The critical step is participation in the Andhra Pradesh State NEET Counselling conducted by Dr. YSRUHS itself for allotment to state quota seats (Competent Authority Quota - Cat A in private) in government and private colleges, and Management Quota (Cat B & C/NRI) seats in private colleges. MCC handles the All India Quota for government colleges.

• MD / MS / MDS / AYUSH PG: Admission is based on ranks in NEET-PG / NEET-MDS / AIAPGET. Dr. YSRUHS conducts the state counselling for state quota (Competent Authority Quota) seats. MCC handles the All India Quota.

• Nursing / Physiotherapy / Paramedical: Admission procedures usually involve centralized web counselling conducted by Dr. YSRUHS based on merit in the qualifying examination (Intermediate with specific subjects) for the Competent Authority Quota seats. Check specific Dr. YSRUHS notifications for these admissions.

• Career Support (Placements):

• University Role: Dr. YSRUHS does not operate a central placement cell for all affiliated colleges across the state.

• College Responsibility: Placement activities and career guidance fall under the purview of the individual affiliated colleges.

• Outcomes: Graduates from Medical/Dental/AYUSH streams complete internships and typically pursue PG specialization, join government service (compulsory service bonds often apply in AP government colleges), corporate hospitals, or set up private practice. Nursing and Paramedical graduates' placements depend significantly on their specific college's reputation and placement cell activities, targeting hospitals and diagnostic centers within AP and other states.

Andhra Pradesh's private medical and dental colleges, affiliated with Dr. YSRUHS, have specific provisions for NRI admissions under Category C.
