Established in 1948, the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Zabrze is the founding faculty of the Medical University of Silesia (SUM). Originally the sole department of the university, it has grown into one of Poland’s premier medical and dental education centers. Located in the heart of the Silesian industrial region, the faculty is renowned for its clinical excellence, particularly in cardiology and dentistry, and was a pioneer in offering first-degree studies in emergency medicine in Poland.
