Established in 1955, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College, Kanpur is one of the most prestigious and oldest medical institutions in Uttar Pradesh. Named after the legendary journalist and freedom fighter Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi, it was the first medical college established in independent Uttar Pradesh.
