• Laboratories: Equipped with new, state-of-the-art labs for all pre-clinical and para-clinical departments (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, etc.) as per NMC standards.

The college is attached to a large government hospital that serves as its primary teaching facility.

• Flagship Hospital: The Associate Hospital (District Hospital Baramulla) is the primary constituent teaching hospital for GMC Baramulla.

• Scale & Services: This is a major tertiary care referral hospital for North Kashmir.

• Capacity: A large hospital with 300+ beds (with continuous efforts to upgrade and expand facilities).

• Services: Provides comprehensive healthcare services across all major clinical specialties, including General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiology, and Anaesthesiology. It features 24x7 Emergency, Trauma, and Critical Care (ICUs), modern Operation Theatres, and advanced Diagnostic facilities.

• Educational Engine: The Associate Hospital is the core clinical training ground for MBBS students and postgraduate residents, offering high-volume patient exposure crucial for medical training.

Fee Structure: Government Subsidized

As a state government medical college, the fees are extremely low and set by the Government of J&K.

Campus Living: Hostel Facilities

• Accommodation: Separate hostel blocks are available for male and female students (UGs).

• Dining: Mess facilities are available for all hostellers.

• Cost: Hostel and mess fees are additional to the tuition fees but are highly economical.

Admissions Process: NEET & State Counselling (J&K)

• Getting Admitted (MBBS): Admission is strictly and exclusively based on qualifying ranks in NEET-UG.

• State Counselling is Key (J&K): Seat allotment for all categories (Open Merit, Reserved Categories, and All India Quota) is handled entirely through the J&K Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (J&K BOPEE) centralized counselling process.

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ): Seats are filled through the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling, open to students from all over India.

• 85% State Quota: Seats are reserved for students with J&K domicile and are filled through the J&K BOPEE state counselling.

Career Pathways & Placements

• Career Path: As a government medical college, the career path for graduates is excellent.

• Internship: MBBS graduates complete a mandatory 1-year rotatory internship at the Associate Hospital, Baramulla, for which they receive a competitive stipend as per UT Administration norms.

• Bond: A service bond may be required for PG graduates.

• Post-Graduation: Graduates will be eligible to appear for the NEET-PG exam to pursue postgraduate specialization (MD/MS) or can become Medical Officers in the state health service.
