Established in 1977 as a branch of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, JUMS became an independent university in 2007 and has since evolved into one of the top-tier public medical institutions in southern Iran. Located in the historic city of Jahrom, Fars Province, the university is officially recognized by the Iranian Ministry of Health, WHO, and ECFMG (Pathways). It is particularly noted for its extensive clinical network the largest in Fars province after Shiraz and its commitment to providing a high-quality, English-medium MD program for international students, especially those from the Indian subcontinent.
