Miscellaneous

Admissions & Career Pathways: State Portal (GCAS) & Regional Focus

  • Getting Admitted:

    • UG (BA/BSc/BCom etc. in Affiliated Colleges): Admission to most general UG courses in colleges affiliated with SGGU is managed through the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) portal, a centralized, merit-based process based on Class 12 marks.

    • PG (MA/MSc/MCom on Campus): Admission to on-campus postgraduate programs is also typically managed via the GCAS portal, based on merit in the qualifying Bachelor's degree.

    • MBBS / BDS / AYUSH (Affiliated): Admission is strictly based on rank in the NEET-UG examination, followed by centralized state counselling conducted by the Admission Committee for Professional Undergraduate Medical Educational Courses (ACPUGMEC), Gujarat.

    • B.Tech (Affiliated): Admission to affiliated engineering colleges is based on JEE (Main) scores and/or GUJCET (Gujarat Common Entrance Test), followed by ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses) counselling.

    • MBA (On Campus): Admission is likely based on CMAT scores, followed by university-level counselling.

    • B.Ed: Admission is through the state's centralized B.Ed admission process.

    • Always check the official SGGU admission notifications and the relevant Gujarat state admission portals (GCAS, ACPC, ACPUGMEC).

  • Career Support (Placements):

    • Focus: SGGU has a placement cell. For the vast majority of graduates from its affiliated arts, science, and commerce colleges, career paths often involve state government jobs (GPSC, Banking), teaching positions (B.Ed/NET/SET), local entrepreneurship, or further studies.

    • Campus Placements: Direct campus placements are more relevant for the on-campus MBA program and professional courses in affiliated colleges (Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing). Recruiters would likely include regional companies, banks (ICICI, Bajaj Finance), IT firms, pharmaceutical companies, and hospitals.

    • Outcomes: Placement success varies. Average packages for MBA or affiliated engineering colleges are generally modest, potentially in the ₹2.5 LPA to ₹4.5 LPA range. The university's primary role is massification of higher education in the Eastern Gujarat belt.

Information for NRI / Foreign Nationals

As a regional State University, SGGU's processes are heavily focused on domestic students.

Aspect

Detailed Description

Seat Availability

Affiliated Private Colleges (like for Nursing, Physio, Engineering) may have NRI quotas as per state government policy (e.g., 15% in private medical colleges like Zydus). The on-campus PG departments typically do not have a large, defined NRI quota for their aided courses.

Admission Process

MBBS (Affiliated): NRI candidates must apply through the ACPUGMEC, Gujarat state counselling portal, claiming the NRI category and submitting required documents (passport, visa, proof of NRI status/sponsorship) based on NEET-UG rank. ▸ B.Tech (Affiliated): NRI candidates may apply through ACPC counselling or directly to the affiliated colleges under NRI/Management quotas. ▸ On-Campus PG: Unlikely to have a standard NRI process. Direct inquiry to the university's Registrar is necessary to check for any supernumerary seat provisions for foreign nationals.

Fees

Fees for the NRI Quota in affiliated private colleges (especially MBBS at Zydus) are extremely high and fixed by the state's Fee Regulatory Committee, payable in US Dollars or equivalent. Fees for other courses (B.Tech, Nursing) under NRI quota would also be significantly higher than domestic fees.
