Information for NRI / Foreign Nationals

Aspect

Detailed Description

Seat Availability

Not Applicable (Discontinued). Silchar Medical College, as a state-run institution, no longer has a specific "NRI Quota" for MBBS seats. An NRI quota that was previously introduced for government medical colleges in Assam was discontinued from the 2024-2025 academic year following a Supreme Court ruling.

Admission Process

NRI candidates, OCI cardholders, or Foreign Nationals can compete for seats at this college only through the 15% All India Quota (AIQ), managed by the MCC. They must qualify NEET-UG and will be treated as General (Open) category candidates in the AIQ counselling.

Fees

If an NRI/OCI candidate secures a seat through the AIQ, they pay the same highly subsidized government fee as Indian citizens (i.e., ~₹27,075 per year), not the high NRI quota fees that were previously in place.
