Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) is a premier medical State University located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. It was established by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature, with its foundation stone laid in 1986 and the hospital becoming functional in 1993. It was officially granted the status of a State University in 1995, conceived along the lines of AIIMS, New Delhi, to provide super-specialty medical care.
