Hostel & Mess Facilities

Hostel and mess facilities are not provided by the university's central campus. These facilities are provided by the individual affiliated colleges (e.g., Gauhati Medical College, Assam Medical College, etc.) to their respective students. Costs and room quality vary, but government college hostels are generally very affordable.

Admissions Process (Centralized State Counselling)

SSUHS does not conduct its own admissions for most courses. All admissions to its affiliated colleges are handled by the state government's centralized bodies.

• Primary Gateway (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS): Admission is strictly based on the rank obtained in the NEET-UG examination.

• State Counselling Authority: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam is the sole authority responsible for conducting the centralized online counselling for all 85% State Quota seats. The MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) handles the 15% All India Quota seats.

• PG Courses (MD/MS/MDS/AYUSH PG): Admission is based on ranks from NEET-PG, NEET-MDS, and AIAPGET, respectively, with counselling also managed by DME, Assam.

• B.Sc. Nursing / B.Pharm / Paramedical: Admission to government colleges is often through a State-Level Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by SSUHS or another state body.

• Ph.D. (On-Campus): The university conducts its own Ph.D. Entrance Test for admission to its doctoral programs.

Career Pathways & Placements

As an affiliating university, SSUHS does not have a central placement cell. Placements and career paths are specific to the graduates of its affiliated colleges.

• Internship: All clinical graduates (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, etc.) must complete a mandatory 1-year rotatory internship at their respective teaching hospitals, for which they receive a stipend.

• Career Path: Graduates are employed by the state government's health services (often fulfilling a service bond), pursue postgraduate specialization (via NEET-PG), join private hospital chains, or enter the armed forces medical services.

Information for NRI / Foreign Nationals

• NRI Quota: Government medical colleges in Assam (affiliated with SSUHS) have a specific NRI quota for MBBS seats.

• Admission Process: NRI candidates must qualify the NEET-UG exam. They must then apply for the Assam State NEET Counselling conducted by the DME, Assam, under the NRI category.

• Documentation: This requires rigorous, authenticated documents (passport, visa/residence permit of NRI/sponsor, embassy certificate, proof of relationship, sponsorship affidavit) as specified in the state's admission prospectus.
