The Faculty of Biomedical and Health Sciences at Universidad Europea de Madrid (UE) is one of the most technologically advanced private health science faculties in Spain. Unlike the older public universities, UE focuses heavily on an "Experiential Learning" model, utilizing high-fidelity simulation and early interprofessional clinical practice.
The faculty is primarily based at the Villaviciosa de Odón Campus, located on the western outskirts of Madrid.
Type: Private University.
Location: C/ Tajo, s/n, 28670 Villaviciosa de Odón, Madrid.
Instruction Language: Offers degrees in both Spanish and English (25% of the student body is international).
Accreditation: The medical school is recognized by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and is fully aligned with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The campus is designed to resemble a professional health environment rather than a traditional classroom setting.
Simulated Hospital: A world-class 800 $m^2$ facility that functions as a real clinical center. It includes:
Operating Rooms & ICUs: For high-complexity surgical and emergency training.
Consultation Rooms: Where students interact with "standardized patients" (actors) to develop communication skills.
Simulated Pharmacy: For Pharmacy students to practice drug dispensing and patient counseling.
Integrated Labs: Advanced facilities for 3D Bio-printing, genetics, and molecular biology.
Teaching Farm: A dedicated Learning and Research Farm for students in Veterinary and Animal Sciences.
Leading tertiary care hospital attached to the institution
UE operates a network of private and public teaching hospitals, maintaining a low student-to-professor ratio (often 1:1 or 1:2) during rotations.
Primary Networks: Collaborative agreements with major hospital groups like Quirónsalud and Asisa.
University Clinics: The university operates its own University Dental Clinic and Multi-Specialty Clinic in central Madrid.
Clinical Immersion: Clinical rotations begin early, with a specific focus on "Humanized Medicine," ensuring students understand the patient's psychological journey alongside the clinical diagnosis.
State University Affordability
As a private university, tuition fees are significantly higher than public institutions, but they include access to premium technology and individualized tutoring.
On-Campus Residences:
Picasso & Velázquez Residences: These on-campus halls house over 500 students. They feature gardens, waterfalls, and high-security access.
Cost: Approximately €1,270 – €1,775 per month (includes full board, room cleaning, and gym access).
Off-Campus (Villaviciosa de Odón):
A very popular option for students who prefer private shared flats. Prices range from €450 to €700 per month.
Dining:
The campus features multiple cafeterias and specialized dining halls for residents with special medical diet options.
Universidad Europea has its own independent admissions process, distinct from the public university "Nota de Corte."
Application: Completed via the online portal.
Admission Tests:
General Competencies Test: Evaluates study habits and psychological traits (approx. 30 minutes).
English/Spanish Proficiency Test: Required if the degree is taught in a non-native language.
Specific Medicine Test: A more rigorous evaluation for medical applicants.
Language Requirement: For clinical interaction in Spanish hospitals, a B2/C1 Spanish level is highly recommended even for English-track students.
