General Information

The Universidad Leonardo da Vinci (ULDV) is one of Paraguay’s fastest-growing private universities. The Faculty of Health Sciences is specifically designed to meet international medical standards.

  • Legal Standing: It operates under the Law of Higher Education of Paraguay and is fully recognized by CONES and MEC. This means the degree is globally valid for exams like USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), and NEXT (India).

  • Admission Process: There is no entrance exam. The university believes in giving every student a chance to prove their potential during the course.

  • Language: While the medium of instruction is Spanish, the proximity to Brazil means many faculty members understand Portuguese. For Indian/International students, the university often provides initial Spanish language support.

Hospital & Medical Facilities

Leading tertiary care hospital attached to the institution

Hospital training is the most critical part of the ULDV curriculum.

  • Early Clinical Exposure: Unlike many countries where you see patients in the 3rd or 4th year, ULDV starts basic clinical visits and "Semiología" (patient history taking) much earlier.

  • Regional Hospital of Salto del Guairá: This is a government-run high-volume hospital where students perform their main rotations. You get to see a wide variety of cases from trauma to tropical diseases.

  • Internship (Internado Rotatorio): The 6th year is a mandatory internship. Students rotate through five core areas: Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology & Obstetrics, and Public Health.

Fee Structure

State University Affordability

Note: Fees are subject to small annual changes, but here is the typical breakdown:

  • One-time Admission Fee: $200 – $400 (Registration and documentation).

  • Monthly Tuition (Cuota): $250 – $380 USD (Depending on the year/semester).

  • Annual Cost: Total tuition usually stays under $4,000 USD per year.

  • Comparison: This is significantly cheaper than private medical colleges in India or the Philippines, making it highly "Value for Money."

City Details

  • The Shopping Capital: The city is a major commercial zone. It is famous for its massive malls and tax-free electronics.

  • Student Life: The city is safe and very welcoming to foreigners. Because it is a border town, you get the best of both Paraguayan and Brazilian cultures.

  • Safety: It is a small, manageable city. Most students move around using bicycles, motorbikes, or local taxis (Remises).

  • Connectivity: It is well connected by road to Asunción (Capital of Paraguay) and Ciudad del Este.

  • Hostel & Mess

Since there are no "Official University Hostels," a private student-housing ecosystem exists.

    • Apartment Culture: Students usually rent "Departamentos" or "Pensiones". A 2-bedroom apartment shared by 3 students is the most common choice.

    • Cost of Living:

      • Rent: $100 - $150 per head (shared).

      • Utilities: $30 - $50 (Electricity, Water, Internet).

    • Food (Mess): Most students prefer self-cooking as it is healthier and cheaper. Local markets (Supermercados) have fresh vegetables, meat, and grains at low prices. There are also many "Comedores" (local eateries) offering a full "Menu del Día" for about $4.

    Miscellaneous

  • International/NRI Seats: Unlike India, there is no "Management Quota" or extra high fees for NRI students. All international students pay the same standard international fee.

  • Documentation for NRIs/Indians: * 10th & 12th Marksheets (Apostilled).

    • NEET Qualification (Required for Indian students to practice in India later).

    • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC).

  • Visa: You enter on a tourist visa and the university helps you convert it into a Temporary Student Residence once you are in Paraguay.
