The 46-acre campus is located in a beautiful area on the edge of the city and was built to be a modern, connected place to learn.

• The Main Academic Building is a big, multi-purpose building that houses the departments for First Year subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
• Specialized Lecture Theatres: There are six dedicated lecture theatres on campus, each with modern audio-visual systems for teaching large groups.
• The Advanced Research Laboratory is a central place that helps both students and faculty do research in the biomedical sciences.
• The Clinical Skills Simulation Center is a modern place where students can use medical manikins and simulation technology to practice clinical procedures before going to the hospital.
• Digital Library & Resource Center: A place with a lot of physical books and 24/7 access to international electronic databases for medical research.
• Student Activity Center & Gymnasium: This building has a fitness center and an indoor sports hall to help students stay healthy and have fun.
• Big Outdoor Stadium: A place for track and field events and football games between universities.
• Computer Science & IT Lab: A special lab where students learn about health informatics and modern digital research methods.
• Traditional Food Court: A two-story building just for students and faculty that has a wide range of healthy and tasty food options.
• Departmental Museums: These include teaching museums for Anatomy and Pathology that have special specimens for hands-on learning.

UMTGI is mostly connected to the biggest tertiary healthcare centers in Shan State, which gives students a lot of different clinical experiences.

• The Sao San Tun General Hospital is the main teaching hospital in Taunggyi and has 500 beds. It is known for its many medical and surgical specialties.
• Women and Children Hospital (Taunggyi) is a specialized tertiary hospital that trains doctors in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics.
• Regional Health Centers: Students take part in a 3-week Residential Field Training (RFT) program in rural Shan State to learn about community and primary healthcare.
• Emergency and Trauma Units: Because the affiliated general hospital is on a major highway, students get a lot of experience with trauma care and emergency medicine.

As a state-run institution, education is heavily subsidized for domestic students.

• The Vibe: Taunggyi is a vibrant, multi-ethnic city known for its "Fire Balloon Festival" and its status as a major trade and administrative center.
• Connectivity:
• Air: Heho Airport (HEH) is the main gateway, located about 1 hour's drive from the university.
• Road: Well-connected to central Myanmar via the National Highway; it is a major stop for buses coming from Yangon and Mandalay.

• Housing: The university has eleven apartment buildings for staff and students, making sure that everyone lives in a safe and close-knit community.
• Taunggyi is 1,436 meters above sea level, which gives it a cool, refreshing climate that is great for studying hard. However, students should be ready for cold winters.

• After graduation, graduates must do a one-year House Surgeon training (internship) in a recognized hospital before they can fully register as a doctor.
