The University of Medicine, Taunggyi is the fifth and newest public medical school in Myanmar. It opened on October 3, 2015. It was built in the capital of Shan State to decentralize medical education and give students from the Shan and Kayah States specialized training. Even though it was only recently set up, it has quickly become an important center for healthcare development in the eastern mountainous parts of the country.
The 46-acre campus is located in a beautiful area on the edge of the city and was built to be a modern, connected place to learn.
