• Capacity: A massive hospital with 2,900+ beds (the largest under the Central Government).

• Services: Provides comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care across all specialties and super-specialties. It features one of India's busiest Emergency & Trauma Centers, a large Burns & Plastic Surgery Block, extensive Critical Care units (ICUs), modern Operation Theatres, and massive OPD/IPD services.

• Patient Load: The sheer volume and diversity of patients seen at SJH provide students with unparalleled clinical exposure, considered the college's biggest asset.

Educational Engine: SJH is the core clinical training ground for MBBS students and postgraduate residents.

Campus Living: Hostel Facilities

Admissions Process: NEET & Central/State Counselling

• Getting Admitted (MBBS/MD/MS): Admission is strictly and exclusively based on qualifying ranks in NEET-UG (for MBBS) or NEET-PG (for MD/MS).

• Counselling Process: Seat allotment is handled by two different bodies:

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ): Seats are filled through the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) counselling, open to students from all over India.

• 85% State Quota (Delhi Pool): Seats are reserved for students who have completed their 11th and 12th standard education in schools affiliated with GGSIPU in Delhi. These seats are filled through the GGSIPU (Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) Counselling process.

Career Pathways & Placements

• Career Path: As a premier government medical college, the career path for graduates is excellent.

• Internship: MBBS graduates complete a mandatory 1-year rotatory internship at Safdarjung Hospital, for which they receive a stipend (approx. ₹26,300 per month).

• Bond (PG): A mandatory service bond (e.g., 2 years) with a significant penalty clause (e.g., ₹10-15 Lakhs) may apply to postgraduate (MD/MS) graduates.
