World-Class Medical Education in North America | Graduate-Entry MD | English Medium | FMGE & USMLE Eligible | Select Pathway
Canada is home to some of the world's finest medical schools, including the University of Toronto, McGill University, McMaster University, and the University of British Columbia, which consistently rank among the top 100 medical schools worldwide. Canadian medical degrees are internationally respected, the clinical training environment is world-class, and graduates are eligible for USMLE (USA), PLAB (UK), AMC (Australia), and FMGE/NExT (India). Two facts must be stated clearly before any student or family proceeds. First, Canada does not offer an undergraduate MBBS program. Canadian medical programmes are graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees, typically 3β4 years, entered after a completed bachelor's degree (usually 3β4 years). The total educational timeline to Canadian MD graduation is therefore 7β9 years from 12th grade. Secondly, Canadian medical schools are extremely competitive for international students. Most major Canadian universities prioritise. International seats for Canadian citizens and permanent residents are very limited. Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) in St. John's has historically been more accessible to international students than most other Canadian schools. Total cost over the full 4-year MD programme at MUN is approximately CAD 60,000β75,000 per year in tuition, plus St John's living costs. A bachelor's degree precedes this. Canada is therefore a long-horizon, high-investment pathway appropriate for academically exceptional students with a clear commitment to North American or international medical careers and the family's financial capacity to support a 7 to 9-year educational journey.

Description St John's is one of Canada's smaller and more distinctive cities, with colourful Victorian rowhouses, a dramatic Atlantic coastline, a famous local culture of warmth and humour, and a cost of living significantly lower than Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal. It is also one of the foggiest, windiest, and snowiest cities in Canada, which can be challenging for students from warmer Indian cities. Memorial University has a well-established international student community and a strong Indian Students' Association. The city is small enough to be navigable without a car and compact enough that campus life and city life overlap naturally.
Canada is our most long-horizon destination and requires the most strategic planning of any pathway we offer. The Canada MD journey involves selecting the right bachelor's programme (ideally in Canada or India), maintaining the GPA required for MD admission, preparing for the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), navigating MUN's specific admission process, and managing the Study Permit at both stages. Our Canada specialist works with students who are committed to this multi-year investment. If you are seriously considering Canada, begin counselling as early as possible.
